Volunteer for Harbor House

Domestic abuse advocates come from all walks of life. Harbor House volunteers include men and women, parents and teens, church and school groups, business professionals, teachers, and domestic violence survivors. This diverse volunteer base not only promotes a welcoming community of hope within our doors – it strengthens our community relationships, meets the needs of our clients, and enriches the lives of shelter residents and staff.

Volunteer Training

We want to ensure that each volunteer who walks through our doors feels connected to Harbor House and our mission to end domestic abuse in Northeast Wisconsin. As a Harbor House volunteer, you’ll be required to participate in an eight-hour volunteer training in which you’ll learn about domestic abuse, the importance of confidentiality and how to protect it, the effects of domestic violence on children, and concepts related to anti-oppression.

Share Your Talents

Have a unique talent that’s not in our list of volunteer opportunities? We’d love to hear from you. Harbor House volunteers offer their expertise on a wide variety of topics including knitting, auto care, resume writing, interviewing, and budgeting. Volunteers also offer free personal care services such as haircuts, chiropractic services, yoga, and massage. We even have a group of women that visit monthly to provide residents with a home cooked meal.

Volunteer Opportunities

Harbor House volunteers donate their time and talents in a variety of ways. Below is a listing of potential areas that we need support from volunteers, but we are always wanting to hear about talents that individuals want to donate to Harbor House by volunteering their time.

If you do not see a job below that is exactly what you are looking to do, please out a
