Lighting the Path to Healing

Harbor House’s Calumet County Program to host its Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Candlelight Vigil; Wanick Choute Park, Sherwood, WI

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 27th, 2018

Sherwood, WI – The community is invited to participate in Harbor House’s Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Candlelight Vigil on Monday, October 1, 2018. The evening’s events will begin at 6:30 pm at Wanick Choute Park, W4687 Castle Drive, Sherwood, WI 54169.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It is a month in which we take time to honor and remember individuals who have lost their lives or have had their lives dramatically impacted by domestic violence. Organized through its Calumet County Outreach Program, Harbor House’s Candlelight Vigil provides the community an opportunity to come together to create awareness of domestic violence.

The event will feature live music, invocation/benediction, a survivor speaker and a candle lighting ceremony to honor and remember those who have lost their lives to domestic violence. This year we will be dedicating a silent witness to honor Calumet County resident, Sara Schmidt, who lost her life to domestic violence in January of 2018.

The Candlelight Vigil will conclude with a social at Wanick Choute Park. There is no cost to attend.
