Harbor House’s New Ultraviolet Fundraising Event Set for October 12

Event Focuses on Shining a Light of Hope for Survivors of Domestic Abuse

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 1st, 2018

(Appleton, Wis. – 10/1/18) Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs will debut their new premier fundraising event, Ultraviolet, on Friday, October 12 from 6:30 – 10 p.m. at Wisconsin Dance and Cheer in Kimberly. Proceeds from the event support Harbor House’s work to break the stigma of domestic abuse, offer refuge to survivors of abuse, and create pathways to empowerment.

The event will transform the venue into a sensory playground featuring light-inspired interactive art, thrilling performances, innovative eats, and social-media-worthy photo ops. This event will appeal to all of the senses and will be the highlight of a complete calendar of fundraising and awareness opportunities the organization has planned for Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.

The Ultraviolet theme is all about light and “Collective Brightness” and purple is the color of domestic violence awareness. “If we feel alone as we struggle through dark times in life it can be overwhelming. There is power in coming together through our struggles and lifting each other up. Collective brightness is all about the light that hope brings.” explained Jenny Krikava, Development and Marketing Manager at Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs.

Performances include live reggae music by Unity the Band, DJ Hannah Dorsey, a black light performance by Cycropia Aerial Dance from Madison and an interactive art experience by digital artist Dave Razor. The menu is designed by The Source Public House with desserts by Whisk and Arrow featuring grown-up twists on favorite childhood treats.

Opportunities to support Harbor House throughout the night include a glow-in-the-dark henna station, t-shirt station and a giant “lite brite” fund-a -need wall.

Tickets are available online for $50. For more information about Ultraviolet purchase tickets, visit www.harborhousewi.org/ultraviolet.
