HARBOR HOUSE DOMESTIC ABUSE PROGRAM’S NEW EVENT – AMAZING RACE SET FOR APRIL 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 18th, 2021

APPLETON – Harbor House Domestic Abuse Program’s new event – Amazing Race is set to occur on Saturday, April 17, 2021. Based on the TV show the Amazing Race, Harbor House’s Amazing Race will be a service-area challenge throughout Outagamie and Calumet Counties. Challenges will combine physical, mental, and comical tasks to complete to get a clue to the next clue with all teams working to make it to the finish line – all to support survivors of domestic violence!

Beyond its team challenges, Harbor House’s Amazing Race will educate participants in the work that Harbor House does for our community and will shine a light on the challenges victims of domestic abuse experience on their journey to healing. “We are excited about our Amazing Race event. We are looking forward to educating our community in a fun and challenging way while also ensuring everyone’s safety and health,” said Amber Schroeder, Harbor House’s Executive Director. “Our staff and planning committee has worked hard to design an event that will keep everyone involved, volunteers, staff, participants, healthy and safe in our current COVID climate”

Teams of two to five people (or a carload) will register for free (we are encouraging that people sign up with people already in their social bubbles). To participate on April 17, your team must be one of the first thirty teams to raise $300 to support Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs. For every $150 raised over $300, teams will receive a bonus ‘Light Up’ clue to help them navigate the race and the team that raises the most money will get a prize package valued at over $500! All the proceeds from Harbor House’s Amazing Race will support survivors of domestic abuse.

Harbor House’s Amazing Race is a test of wits, good humor, and teamwork, and will include 12 challenges throughout Harbor House’s service area of Outagamie and Calumet counties. With staggered start times and different routes, teams will not be coming into contact with other teams throughout the race. Volunteers at each challenge will ensure that all equipment needed for each challenge is sanitized, in-between teams.  For more information on how to register or to donate, please visit www.harborhousewi.org/amazingrace.
