HARBOR HOUSE DOMESTIC ABUSE PROGRAMS ADDING MURAL TO ITS FACILITY

New ‘Together we Rise’ mural plans to be installed beginning Thursday, August 20.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 17th, 2020

APPLETON – Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs’ will be adding a large mural to their building in the coming weekend, Thursday, August 20 through Sunday, August 23, 2020. The ‘Together we Rise’ mural has been a project that the agency has imagined ever since its Building Hope Capital Campaign that began in the Fall of 2017.

Our expanded/renovated space gave us the perfect canvas to turn our institutional-looking facility into a piece of art that enhances our community,” stated Morgan Kirchenwitz, Harbor House’s Marketing and Events Manager.

Domestic Abuse affects all people. The ‘Together we Rise’ mural concept shines a light on the beauty we all possess within ourselves and the idea that for one of us to rise, we all must rise together. The mural design and execution will be led by local artist, Irineo Medina, and will be added to the organization’s garage that faces both Memorial Drive and Fifth Street.

“It is important that we are making all individuals feel welcome and feel safe coming to us for support,” said Harbor House’s Executive Director, Amber Schroeder, “domestic abuse lives in silence, we want our community to know where we are, who we are, and how they can utilize our services.”

Harbor House’s board and staff look forward to continuing to become a more interwoven part of our community and to continue to work to make our organization be a welcoming and safe place for all who need help, hope, and haven from domestic abuse.
